My regular week-long art courses, at the At Botha Art Gallery, offer you the opportunity to relax, hone your creative skills and enjoy the seaside beauty of Paternoster.
I find it an absolute pleasure presenting the regular week-long art courses I host at my gallery in Paternoster. The courses are mainly for beginners or people who have never painted before. Some of the attendees are more experienced painters who join for the creative interaction and the tranquil beauty of Paternoster.
People from all over South Africa, and even from abroad, have attended my courses: a week of creative endeavours with enough time, each day, to enjoy everything the friendly seaside village of Paternoster has to offer.
Every day of the course starts with a new painting to be completed the same day. My students each go home with five paintings: their own, original creations. Each of the five projects has a unique theme. The aim of this is to, over the five-day period, expose students to different genres: landscape painting, ocean scenes, still life, portraits and more. Even students who arrive believing that they are not capable of drawing a stick man tend to surprise themselves with what they are able to achieve in just five days.
The daily classes start at 09:00 and formally end at 17:00. For the sake of quick drying, acrylic paint is used for all artworks. Students regularly complete the daily assignments between 15:00 and 16:00, leaving ample time to enjoy the seaside, the friendly atmosphere as well as the estimated 23 restaurants in Paternoster.
My two luxury self-catering cottages, Marlyn and Dolfyn, are available to students at a discounted rate depending on availability. The cottages are a 10-minute walk from the At Botha Art Gallery where the courses are presented.
